Police: It’s William Yau

SUBANG JAYA: Police confirmed Monday that the boy whose body was found near the Kampung Sungai Sireh jetty, Port Klang, was indeed William Yau Zhen Zhong.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said the DNA samples provided by William’s parents matched the specimen taken from body, which was found on Thursday.

“It is a preliminary report but it is enough to ascertain the body found was William’s.

“The body will be released to the family today (Monday) for funeral arrangements,” he told a press conference at Subang Jaya district police headquarters.

He added that a special task force had been formed to investigate the case.

“Full post-mortem results will be obtained in two weeks.

“We will investigate all inconsistencies raised in regards to statements by the parents and family members,” he said.

Meanwhile, William’s parents arrived at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang around 10.20am to claim his body. They were seen carrying joss sticks and an effigy.

Earlier, at 9.15am, they had conducted prayers for William at the spot in Sungai Sireh where his body was found.

They also met the fishermen who found William’s body and thanked them.

The family will be taking the body to Bukit Jelutong in Malacca, where the funeral rites and cremation will be held at 2pm.
